Taking Care of Yourself First

As busy women, we’re often taking care of everyone else’s needs. Preparing meals, cleaning our homes, pursuing a career to support our families… and yet, we seldom take the time needed to make our own needs a priority.

Here are few simple tips to help you prioritize yourself this year.
  •  Me time.
It is not selfish to set aside some time every week for yourself. Whether you want to take a long soak in a bubble bath, invest in a hobby that you love, or simply read a book.  Taking time out from the busyness of everyday life is essential to help you find balance. Remember, a happy, healthy mom is more likely to provide the right care needed for happy, healthy kids!

  •  Plan a self-care schedule.
A little bit of planning can go a long way. Prioritize activities that are important for your own personal self-care and self-love. If you want to join an art class or exercise program, prioritize this and add it to your weekly schedule. Just want ten minutes to read in the bath? How can you make arrangements to allow that free, uninterrupted time?

  • Redefine healthy living.
Do you plan to get fit, eat better, find mental or physical balance this year? Start by identifying your wellness goals and redefine what healthy living really means to you. It may mean something as simple as cutting out sweet treats or doing more cardio. Either way, know your objectives and make small changes towards improved well being.

  • Don’t skip your medical check-ups.
As busy women we may overlook our own health and well being, but it is important to stay in tune with our bodies. Go for an annual medical assessment to rule out any ailments. Regular health tests often help to identify any problems before they start.

  • Set personal goals.
Whether in your career or for your family – set goals you can work towards this year. This will help to keep you motivated and give you direction. When you look back at the goals achieved over the year, you’ll be sure to feel a sense of personal satisfaction and purpose.

Remember – sometimes we have to put ourselves first.
We can’t possibly pour in to others when we’re not pouring in to ourselves first.

Prioritize your needs through the end of this year and ensure a healthier, happier 2023.
